My primary job is as a Consultant Oral & Maxillo-facial Surgeon.
Before starting in Hull, I spent a month back in Trinidad freely volunteering my surgical services to treat cases that the local surgeon found difficult to deal with.
For 3 years I held the position of Northern Counties Roller Hockey President, which also carried the role of joint Vice President of the National England Roller Hockey Association. I later concentrated on membership of the HUTH BAME Network and involvement in the Hospital Trust’s EDI (Equality Diversity and Inclusion) Voices project. Recognition of his work in these fields was shown by being awarded the joint winner of the 2021 National BAME Health and Care award for Compassionate Leadership.
I foundered a campaign called “Touched By COVID”. This campaign aimed to raise the consciousness of people to remember the victims of the pandemic, to encourage storytelling and hence “story-listening” to better understand and empathize with one another so that people are more motivated to fight all the diverse effects of the pandemic. I believe that these skills could be used to start a podcast on the plight of asylum seekers.
I have worked and lived in London, other parts of the UK and the Caribbean and shown my ability to adapt to new and challenging environments. Above all, I am passionately committed towards charitable pursuits and promoting equality for all, especially those more disadvantaged.
Finally, one absolute passion that I have that I have not mentioned is that I am not sure that there is anyone on the planet that eats, drinks and sleeps football more than I.
