Our staff and volunteers completed some informal training led by Dr Jeff, one of our Trustees. Over five sessions, we covered the asylum process and how it might feel to be trapped within it, modern slavery, integration, promoting British values, education and volunteering opportunities. We also considered how best to budget the small amount of money available to asylum seekers and refugees, and how to make the most of other resources. We also looked at mental health and how to potentially help people suffering. We learned about the changing political situation affects claims. Dr Jeff talked about cultural differences and the importance of understanding the cultural norms of the place in which we live.

We finished the course!
